Why should I choose The Lazy Lucy for my next retreat?

While there are many retreats to choose from, we think that you will find the Lazy Lucy the most inclusive crafters retreat you have ever experienced. The following is a list of things you will find at the Lazy Lucy Retreat House. All linens, pillows and towels provided. Wireless internet access for digital scrapbooking convenience or those that need to work on their laptop. A full-service scrapbook store and 3 large box craft stores within a 5 miles radius. If you need to print pictures, no worries, there is a Walgreens and a CVS within a 1/2 mile of the house.  Entertainment options like TV, DVDs, and Karaoke  Stereo system with CD changer and I-pod plug in for your listening enjoyment.  Don’t forget your CD’s!!

How do I make a reservation?

Confirm that the date you want is available by checking the calendar page. If that date is available, fill out the reservation form and submit it. We will contact you regarding a deposit.  Once we receive your deposit, that date will be reserved for you and your group! Your balance is due 30 days before your retreat date.

What type of personal items should I bring?

Pack your bags as you would for a hotel stay.  So bring your personal toiletries and medications. There are two drug stores within ½ miles and Wal-Mart is within 5 miles in case you forget something.  Oh, and make-up is optional!!!

How safe/secure is the facility?

All exterior doors have double locks and a slide lock installed.  Said doors are well illuminated, dusk to dawn security lights are located on each side of the house as well as the back yard along with motion detecting lights around parking area.  The facility is equipped with a security alarm system also.

How many people can the retreat accommodate?

There are 12 scrapping tables and 12 twin beds. You are not piled on top of each other at this retreat.

Do we have to share bathrooms?

Yes, but there is plenty of room for everyone.  There are two full baths located inside the house.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check in is any time after 12:00 on Friday afternoon and check out is by 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Why is the address to the Scrap Retreat House not listed on the web site?

To respect the privacy of the guests currently enjoying their retreat, we do not publish the actual address of the Scrap Retreat House and ask that you do not visit the house without first contacting us for an appointment to view it. We would be happy to give you a tour of the house if you would like to see it before your retreat date. Please contact us with your request for a tour.  Once your reservation is confirmed, you will be sent the address and directions to the Scrap Retreat House a week prior to your check-in.

What if I am not a crafter?

While the layout of the home is designed with the comforts of crafters in mind, there are many other amenities on the property to enjoy. There is a lounging area for reading, knitting or just relaxing with the group. The entire house has WI-FI wireless internet for easy access to the internet from your laptop, iPad or E-reader. There is a TV to enjoy a movie with your crafting friends while they work or enjoy the serenity from the back patio with a cup of coffee.

What are the sleeping accommodations?

The four bedrooms are set up to create a relaxing environment for sleeping. All beds are twin size with all linens, pillows, blankets and bedding provided. No bunk beds or futons.  All beds have a firm, hotel quality mattress and pillow.  But if you have that favorite pillow, by all means bring it.

What about smoking and pets?

The Lazy Lucy is a smoke free House. Smoking is only allowed on the patio.   Sorry, no pets of any kind are allowed in the home or on the property.

Do you have internet access?

Yes, the house has WI-FI wireless internet access throughout, including the patio for those that want to bring their laptops, iPads, Nooks or Kindles. There is a computer in the studio that is also linked to the Internet.

Can I crop all night?

Sure! It’s your weekend; you can do whatever you want (that’s within the limits of the law!). Crop in your pajamas if you’d like – we want you to be comfortable.

Is The Lazy Lucy just a scrapbook retreat?

While the studio is designed with scrapers in mind, it is also accommodating to quilters, beaders, painters, knitters, machine embroidery and pottery crafters. In addition, the space is available for monthly pokeno, bunco, reading, prayer groups or other groups who need a quiet place to meet.  Tables are easily rearranged and extra chairs can be brought in upon request.

What if I run out of something and need some supplies?

If its basic toiletries you have forgotten, there is a CVS and Walgreens within a mile.  Most of the tools you need are provided in the work room. see the list of tools on studio page. There is a JoAnn’s, Hobby Lobby and Michael’s within 5 miles of the Lazy Lucy and the Lafayette area offers a full service scrapbook store (Scrapbooks with TM)

Are keys available to enter and leave the Scrap Retreat House?

We have a keyless entry system which allows our guests to have the convenience of entering and leaving the Scrap Retreat House at any time during their stay without worrying about keeping up with keys. We will provide our guests an access code at check-in and simple instructions for using the keyless entry system.  We do have keys for each room if the guest request one, or in the event that the house is being used for two different groups.

How do I park and get my supplies into the retreat?

Parking is plentiful.  The Studio is located in the front of the home without any steps. Just roll your supplies from trunk to table. A rolling cart is provided at the retreat for your convenience.  You don’t even have to worry about rain there is a 10 x 20 covered entry way so just drive up under the cover and unload, even in the rain.

What are my food options?

There are numerous restaurants within a 5 mile radius of The Lazy Lucy, covering all types of cuisines.  A list of area dining and delivery options will be provided at the retreat. We will provide coffee and tea makers for an unlimited supply of coffee and tea, hot chocolate and water.

Are meals provided?

Lazy Lucy is an unhosted facility which means that the guests provide their own foods, this is one way that we can keep our rates so affordable.  But don’t forget that Lafayette was voted “Best Food in the South’ by Southern Living AND “Best food city in the US” by USA Today, so we encourage you to try one of our famous local restaurants.  We do offer unlimited coffee, tea (hot and iced), popcorn and a variety of chocolate, crackers, chocolate, other sweets and chocolate scattered through the lounge and studio.

Can I bring my own food and snacks?

Yes, our fully equipped kitchen is available for your use, we just ask that you treat our kitchen as you would your own and clean up after yourselves.

Can I bring alcoholic beverages?

Yes, there are wine glasses, plastic “go-cups” and a blender in the kitchen.

Who provides the cleaning?

We have housekeeping services that will come in after the retreat. For the enjoyment of the group, we ask that you use the garbage cans provided, put dirty towels in the bathroom hampers, clean up after yourself, and load and run the dishwasher before leaving.

Can I have my own private room?

Our rates are based on room capacity, however, private rooms are available at an additional cost, please contact us for rates.

Can we bring guests who will not sleep overnight?

Yes, however, please see our rates page for our current day rate, this small amount is to cover the cost of basic amenities and the use of our studio.

You may want to also consider:
  • Dressing in layers. It’s difficult to please everyone when it comes to temperature control and a group of women.
  • You may want to bring some music cds, we have a stereo in the studio.  If you would prefer, you can bring an MP3 player/CD player and headphones to listen to your own music selection.
  • Most importantly, please bringing a cup with a lid. Even adults can spill so it would be best if we all have lids when working at the table.
